Dear Mrs. Rifenberick:

I, Jarrod Cook, am writing you this letter to tell you why I am taking this advanced English course, about what I have done in previous English classes, and of my interests.  I am taking the advanced junior English course because I have been in previous advanced English classes and done well in them.  I decided to take this course to push myself and improve my reading and writing skills, and to prepare myself for college.  In previous classes I have written many papers including short stories, poetry, research papers, book reports, and essays.  I have also read many works of literature, some of my favorites being Gulliver’s Travels by Jonathan Swift, The Chronicles of Narnia by C. S. Lewis, Harry Potter, books one through four, by J. K. Rowling, and The Hobbit by J. R. R. Tolkien.

I am interested in electronics such as computers, robots, and video game consoles.  I enjoy using a computer and learning about them.  I often read books and online documentation on how computers work and how to make programs that will run on the computer.  I also enjoy using HTML, which I have learned from the many tutorials that can be found on the Internet, to make web pages.  I often read books on computer programming and other computer subjects.  I often watch computer shows on television to learn more about how they work and how to accomplish many task on the machines.  Robots also interest me greatly I usually watch the robot fighting shows and other robot shows on television.  Video game consoles, which are just computers that are used exclusively for playing games, also interest me.  I own many different video game systems and enjoy playing the many games for them. There are also other things I am interested in such as drafting, I have taken the many drafting courses offered in high school and enjoy them.  My interests are in the technological field and I suspect that I will go college for something in this field.

Sincerely,

Jarrod Cook
